Location, Location, Location

Looking for business premises means making sure you pinpoint the right area for your venture. We are going to look at some of the factors that affect your choice of location.

Size of business

If you have a large business with many members of staff all need to be located together, you may well need one large office space or block. Purchasing a building means able to customize it to your business needs. A large business may have small numbers of staff, but require large spaces for equipment. Smaller businesses need the ability to have easy in/ out terms and room to grow.

Links with Transport

If you have the use of a UK wide delivery service then where you are in the country does not really matter too much. We like to think Sheffield is ideally suited as it is towards the centre of the UK and has the bonus of being right off the M1. Being just off the motorway, also means deliveries to you are going to be easier, so the location of your suppliers is not going to affect your business.

Where are your staff?

With two universities and students that want to stay in the city after graduation, you have the choice of well trained and educated staff to employ. Our long history of manufacturing and the quality of goods and products that come out of Sheffield means that we have not only hard workers but motivated and diligent ones too!

What location in Sheffield?

We have the AMRC (advanced manufacturing research centre) and the conglomeration of Steel factories. Inner-city is where the modern office blocks are. Just outside the city centre is Sheaf Bank with its mix of units and office spaces. We have storage areas and smaller retail units, alongside wide studios and warehousing.

Links with great business

Sheffield business do well, apparently, we hold a record for a five-year business survival rate of 45%. Sheffield is one of a handful of cities outside London with this impressive statistic. The Growth Hub is one of the reasons Sheffield business do well. Another is the types of business located within Sheffield. We have Technology and Creatives business alongside innovation and design, leading to great collaborations. In Sheaf Bank Business Park itself, we have an enormous range of enterprises.

Costs

Being right in the centre of a large city may be desirable but if the above factors do not fall in with the plan, then heading to just outside will bring the dividend of lower prices. Differing sizes of units also mean you can upgrade as your organisation expands.
